Stephen Curry The Children Book The Boy Who Never Gave Up Anthony Curcio 9781537010342 Books Reviews
- This is the story of basketball star Stephen Curry's childhood. Stephen dreamed of becoming a basketball star like his father. Because Stephen was short and not very strong, the other children made fun of him and belittled his dreams. Stephen's dad advised him to keep his shot up and move faster. That is exactly what Stephen practiced day after day. Soon he was leading his high school team to championships. Stephen continued to be disappointed with his progress and worked even harder. When college admission time arrived, he was thought to be too weak for the best college teams and not material for the NBA. Do you think that stopped Stephen?
This book provides a good incentive for children to excel in sports and to ignore bullies. Targeted for grades kindergarten through five, I think it is best for the primary grades. There are a few editing issues; the font size could be enlarged. The illustrations are rather stylized, but the message is valuable and basketball aficionados will love the story. - I've been using this book to teach reading to a child whose only interest is basketball. It's a story about the young Steph Curry who worked hard against all odds and realized his dream. It's written at a much younger level but has held the interest of my 5th grader who struggles with reading. Well illustrated. I just ordered another book by the same author for the same boy.
- If you have a "baller" on your hands who dreams of playing in the NBA - this book is cute ) And very inspirational!
- This book is so cute. It tells you about Stephen but also teaches why grit and determination are important.
- I was very disappointed to see the size of the book compared to the price. I expected more pages. I feel it could have been made clearer on the sellers site as to exactly what the "book" (and I use that term loosely) would be like.
- I got this for my grandson who is a big Curry fan. He loves it.
- Perfect for your little basketball enthusiast - even if they don't know Steph Curry (but come on who doesn't) its a great read for the little ones. my nephew is 6 & he LOVED it, kept comparing himself the Steph in the book & asking questions. Would definitely recommend this.
- Stephen CurryThe Children 's Book The Boy Who Never Gave Up is so inspirational! It follows Stephen from a young boy in up despite all the negative feedback he received about being too short. It has photos too along with the adorable drawings. Who doesn't love Stephen Curry? This is a great motivational book for kids!
